Medical OEM

Hosaka began supplying medical equipment makers in 1984, when a manufacturer of intensive-care beds in Leiden asked us for a controller that could be repaired in the field and supplied for the life of its beds. Today our Medical OEM Business Division works with makers of beds, patient lifts, surgical tables, dialysis chairs and diagnostic equipment in Europe, North America and Japan.

A medical device maker cannot change a controller without repeating much of its verification and regulatory work. We therefore treat a design-in as a commitment of ten years or more, and support it with documentation for the customer's risk management file, software developed under IEC 62304 and manufacturing under ISO 13485 at Ina Works.

Remote Service

Most of our customers now service their equipment remotely. The SC-340M connects to the equipment maker's own service network through its remote service interface, so that the maker's engineers can read logs, diagnose faults and install firmware updates without a site visit. Hosaka supplies the platform firmware and supports the maker's service organization; the service network, and every decision about what is done through it, belong to the equipment maker.

Hosaka does not operate service networks and has no access to installed equipment.

Customer Case

Customer since 1984. Hosaka controllers have been designed into four generations of the customer's beds, from the first electrically positioned models to beds with integrated weighing and remote service.
